Zaanse Schans / Volendam tour

Discover unique Dutch history along the Zaan river!

The Zaanse Schans is about original windmills which are still in use! Visit paint mill ‘De Kat’ where chalk is made into paint! The same paint which Rembrandt used to draw his famous paintings.
Or climb the narrow stairs to the deck for some breath taking views.

After the Zaanse Schans we will take you through the Dutch countryside to our next stop, the wooden shoe and cheese factory .
See and learn how this family still produces cheese by hand, using the traditional farmer methods! Have yourself a demonstration in how Dutch cloughs are mady. By hand!

Our last stop is fisherman village Volendam , where you will visit the cozy harbor, explore ‘De Dijk’; the Volendam boulevard while enjoying a ‘Hollandse Nieuwe’ – herring! Or, and that’s our favorite, have lunch at the top rated local fish restaurant!

An additional option is to take the ferry from Volendam to Marken , a former island in the IJsselmeer and a peninsula since 1957. And because of that your driver will be able to pick you up at Marken!
